Founded in the home
The Indian Christian School was accredited and began operating in the home of Esudas and Vijaya Bontha, teaching the orphans they were already hosting.
Serving through education
Train up a child in the way he should go. ICS equips Sudra children not only with literacy, but with the ability to read the Bible for themselves — and to know the Gospel of Christ.
The need
The children of the highest castes in India often enjoy modern schools and universities. By contrast, tens of millions of school-aged Sudra children will not attend any kind of real school this year — many forced into child labor so their families can escape starvation.
The Indian Christian School stands in this gap: a place where the poorest children learn to read and write, and to know the Lord Jesus Christ through His Word.
Campus life
ICS reopened under Chanti’s leadership with students, staff, and school buses serving children from the poorest families. The school remains a witness for Christ in a challenging neighborhood.
History
The Indian Christian School was accredited and began operating in the home of Esudas and Vijaya Bontha, teaching the orphans they were already hosting.
A dedicated campus was opened, allowing the school to grow beyond the family home and serve more children from the poorest families in the region.
Schools across India were closed for approximately two years. The work of care and prayer continued even when classrooms stood empty.
Under Chanti’s leadership the school reopened with over 200 students, about 20 staff, and three buses — completing its second school year in 2026 serving 250+ children.
